🔀 Double Majoring with AGRS

Many students pair an AGRS major with a second degree in another department, division, or college at UC Berkeley.

• Customizable Pathways: Flexible course requirements allow you to align your ancient Mediterranean studies with complementary fields such as History, Anthropology, English, History of Art, STEM majors, or pre-professional programs.
• Strategic Planning: Successfully completing two majors requires early, thoughtful scheduling to manage prerequisites and college unit caps.

🎓 Transfer Students

Transfer students can comfortably complete the AGRS major at UC Berkeley within two years.

• No Prior Preparation Required for AGRS Major: You do not need lower-division Greek or Latin coursework prior to arriving at Berkeley to finish the AGRS major on time.
• Flexible Course Sequences: Program options allow you to focus entirely on coursework taught in English or begin classical language sequences during your junior year.

Important Note for Classical Language Majors

If you intend to major in a classical language (Greek, Latin, or Greek & Latin), keep the following timing considerations in mind:

• Start Early: Language majors require a multi-term sequence, so you should begin coursework as early as possible.
• Transfer Timeline: Transfer students entering without prior preparation in an ancient language may require an additional semester or year to complete a language major.
• Unit Caps & Degree Timelines: Letters & Science (L&S) policy limits single-major students to 130 units and double-major students to 136 units. Students who exceed this unit threshold cannot extend their time at Berkeley to finish a degree. Careful unit tracking is essential, so please review current L&S unit policies while planning your schedule.
