Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Lecturer Suzanne L. Marchand, Boyd Professor of History at Louisiana State University, will speak on "Archaeology, the Bible, and Classical Antiquity in the 19th Century." A major focus of her research has been the history of the humanities, especially classical studies, art history, anthropology, history, and theology in modern Europe. Professor Marchand's two-day campus visit is sponsored by The Phi Beta Kappa Society and the Berkeley chapter PBK Alpha of California. This public lecture is aimed at a broad audience and is co-sponsored by the Departments of History and of Ancient Greek and Roman Studies.
