Every week we will read circa 30 pages of Greek prose (OCT length) or 1,000 lines of verse from the Classics Ph.D. reading list. We will primarily translate and spend most of our time in class discussing grammatical, stylistic and historical phenomena of the texts studied. The main purpose of this class is to prepare graduate students for their Greek exams, and, more generally, to familiarize them with various authors of the Classical, Hellenistic, and Roman Imperial periods. There will be a slight emphasis on prose authors.
